🧑‍🏫 About Me个人简介

I'm Tianqi Yue, an Associate Professor at the School of System Design and Intelligent Manufacturing, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), and the Principal Investigator of the Bioinspired Intelligent Robotic Design Lab (BIRD Lab).

I received my Ph.D. from the University of Bristol and Bristol Robotics Laboratory, supervised by Prof. Jonathan Rossiter and Dr. Hermes Gadelha. During my Ph.D., I focused on the theory and technology of vacuum adhesion for bioinspired robots, leading several representative works: an octopus-inspired soft system with vacuum-based physical intelligence, a snail-inspired wall-climbing robot with sliding vacuum adhesion, and an octopus-inspired multi-scale adaptive vacuum gripper. This series of work has been published in journals including Science Robotics, Nature Communications, and PNAS, and has attracted international media attention and coverage from outlets such as the Associated Press, BBC, and Newton magazine.

After joining SUSTech, I founded BIRD Lab. The lab currently focuses on three major directions: bio-inspired humanoid robot hardware design and anthropomorphic control, robotic vacuum adhesion technology, and soft robotic systems.

The philosophy of BIRD Lab has always been consistent — drawing inspiration from nature, not only mimicking biological forms but also deeply understanding their underlying operational logic, and embedding that intelligence into the core of robotic systems, enabling flexible, safe, and natural human-robot interaction, and providing key technical support for next-generation robots to truly integrate into society.
我是岳天奇,南方科技大学(SUSTech)自动化与智能制造学院的副教授、仿生智能机器人设计实验室(BIRD Lab)的课题组长。

我博士毕业于布里斯托大学和布里斯托机器人实验室,师从 Jonathan Rossiter 教授和 Hermes Gadelha 博士。博士期间,我聚焦于仿生机器人真空吸附理论与技术的研究,主导完成了多项代表性工作:受章鱼启发的真空物理智能软体系统、受蜗牛启发的滑动真空吸附爬壁机器人、以及受章鱼启发的多尺度适应性真空吸附抓取器。系列成果发表于 Science Robotics、Nature Communications、PNAS 等期刊,并获得了包括美联社、BBC、Newton 杂志在内的多家国际媒体关注与报道。

加入南方科技大学后,我成立了 BIRD Lab。实验室目前重点聚焦于三大方向:超仿生人形机器人的本体设计与拟人控制、机器人真空吸附技术、以及软体机器人系统。

BIRD Lab 的理念始终如一——从自然中汲取灵感,不仅模仿生物的形态,更深入理解其本质运行逻辑,并将这种智能嵌入机器人系统的核心,让机器人与人类实现灵活、安全、自然的交互,为下一代机器人真正融入社会提供关键的技术支撑。
